Lauren Lane (born February 2, 1961) is a television and stage actress, best known for her portrayal of socialite C. C. Babcock on the 1990s popular sitcom The Nanny.
Lane was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and raised in Arlington, Texas. She married David Wilkins but is divorced and has one child, a daughter, Kate (born February 27, 1998). In the show the The Nanny while C. C. Babcock gets sent to the sanitarium, Lauren Lane was actually off for the birth of her child.[1]
She designed a handbag collection with Ben Shepard in Los Angeles in 2000.[2]
Sometimes credited as Laura Lane, she began acting in 1984 and has appeared in numerous TV shows, including Hunter during its seventh and final season (1990-1991), L.A. Law and in several movies. She also has acted on stage and was a member of The Actors Gang, an experimental theater company headed by actor Tim Robbins.
Lane graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. She then earned her Master's degree in the advanced training program at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. She is currently a professor in the Theatre Department at Texas State University (formerly South-west Texas State University) in San Marcos, Texas.[3]
In 2004, she appeared in the reunion of Fran Drescher's The Nanny titled The Nanny Reunion: A Nosh to Remember starring Fran Drescher, Rachel Chagall and many more.
