Law is a village situated between Carluke and Wishaw in South Lanarkshire, Scotland with a population of around 2,800.
Law Village is an ex-mining village, now mostly residential. The services in Law include; Law Primary School; Community Centre (Tom Craig Centre);
Law Parish Church can be found on the main street running through the village and is open for worship on a Sunday at 11am and a Wednesday at 10:30am. The church is part of the Church of Scotland (Presbyterian) and seeks to provide spiritual and pastoral care to anyone in the parish, church member or not, who requires it.
A variety of organisations take place in the church for people of all ages including a very large and well run Boys' and Girls' Brigades. The congregation is currently searching for a new minister following Rev. Anne McIvor moving to be minister on the Island of Gigha. During the vacancy the church is being looked after by the interim moderator, Rev. Bryan Kerr, from Greyfriars Parish Church in Lanark. [1]
Irvines Coaches, which is also based in Law Village, is a bus service which runs throughout Lanarkshire and surrounding areas.
The Argyle Railway Line from Lanark runs through the Village but the station was closed down several years ago. However there has been much speculation that it may be reopened in the near future, due to the building of many new homes on the old site of Law Hospital.
The hospital on the outskirts of Law Village has since been closed, with all patients to visit Wishaw General Hospital, located at the bottom of Wishaw, next to Craigneuk.
