Le Canal Nouvelles (LCN) is a Canadian French language cable television 24 hour headline news specialty channel owned by Groupe TVA, a division of Quebecor Media. Its broadcasting headquarters are located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and was launched on September 8, 1997 .

Programming

LCN's format is to broadcast two 30-minute news segments per hour with headlines scrolling at the bottom of the screen.

Quebecor also owns the TVA network. Many news reports shown on TVA are also shown on LCN. LCN is also simulcast for several hours overnight on TVA, with the TVA logo superimposed over the LCN logo.

Current anchors of LCN include Jean-François Guérin, Julie Couture, Véronyque Tremblay, Karine Champagne, Chantal Leblond, Pierre Cantin and Réjean Léveillé.

The channel also broadcasts factual current affairs programs, such as Denis Lévesque, Le Vrai Négociateur (hosted by Claude Poirier), Mongrain (hosted by Jean-Luc Mongrain) and Franchement Martineau.

LCN HD

In fall 2009, a high definition channel called LCN HD was launched as a simulcast of LCN.
