Lee Wallace (born 21 August 1987, in Edinburgh) is a professional football player currently playing for Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premier League. He can play at either left back or wing back and is seen as one of the most promising youngsters in the Scottish game.
Wallace was signed in July 2004 from the Hearts youth team. Since making his debut in the 2004-05 season against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup, Wallace has become a regular member of the first team squad although he has found it hard to dislodge Takis Fyssas from the left back position.
Arguably, Wallace's finest moment so far in the maroon jersey of Hearts was his wonder strike against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup at Rugby Park where he ran a full seventy yards to score his first competitive goal for the club. [1]
Alongside teammate Calum Elliot, Wallace was an integral part of the Scotland U-19 team that reached the final of the 2006 UEFA U-19 Championships before narrowly losing to Spain. He started every match at left back.
In the summer of 2006 there was much speculation linking Wallace with a loan move to fellow SPL club Dundee United, however this move did not materialise and Wallace has been more frequently involved in the Hearts first team in the early part of the 2006-07 season.
In August 2006, Wallace was charged with a firearms offence.[2] On 3 November 2006 he was fined £1500 after admitting to being in possession of an airgun.[3]
