Lefkada (Greek: Λευκάδα - Lefkáda) is a city and municipality in western Greece. It is the capital and main town of the island and prefecture of Lefkada. The city has a 2001 census population of 6,903 inhabitants. The surrounding municipality is located in the northern and northeastern part of the island, and has a land area of 60.628 km² and a population of 10,875. Its next largest towns are Lygiá (pop. 739), Nikiána (666), Apólpaina (507), Frýni (444), Kariótes (442), and Tsoukaládes (431).
