Left Turn is a collectively-run left-wing magazine, published in the United States. It is at the same time also a network of activists. It is based in New York City and in San Francisco. The magazine reports on and promotes grassroots activism in the United States and globally.
The magazine's origins lie in the expulsion of members of the International Socialist Organization in 2001. The International Socialist Organization was in turn expelled from its parent body, the International Socialist Tendency, and Left Turn was invited to take its place as the US affiliate. By 2003, Left Turn decided not to transform itself into a Marxist-Leninist party, and left the International Socialist Tendency in 2003. This latter action left the IST with no affiliate in the United States. [1] The magazine articles reflect an anti-capitalist, rather than Marxist or Trotskyist bent.
Its members have presented panels at the US Social Forum. [2] [3]
