Legrand is a French company that produces equipment for electrical installations and information networks. It sells these products for use in commercial, industrial and residential spaces. Over the years, the company has expanded its business by acquiring companies in over 60 countries.[4] In 2007, Legrand employed 35,000 people worldwide and had sales of over 4 billion Euros, of which 25% were in emerging markets.

Legrand is a member of the SBF 120 Index of the largest French companies.

  • 1860 - Mr. Barjaud de Lafont starts a business to make porcelain tableware
  • 1865 – The Vultry bothers take over the operation
  • 1904 – Frederic Legrand begins running the business
  • 1919 – Factory built to produce electrical fittings, using porcelain as insulating material

  • 1937 – Wins the Gold Medal at the Universal Exposition for fine porcelain
