Leonard Asper (born May 31, 1964, in Winnipeg, Manitoba), is a Canadian businessperson and lawyer. He is a graduate of Brandeis University and the University of Toronto Law School.
Leonard Asper is the son of the late Izzy Asper, founder of CanWest Global. He is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian media company, CanWest Global Communications Corp.
Through Global Television, a subsidiary of CanWest, Leonard Asper worked with CCI Entertainment of Toronto as an executive co-producer to create the documentary,
He has often been rumoured as a potential partner in an ownership group that would bring the NHL back to Winnipeg.
His opinion on the Israel/Palestine conflict was transmitted to the public when he ordered the production, and aired twice at primetime, the pro Israel documentary Confrontation at Concordia. This Documentary was responded to by the Documentary Discordia, which offers an opposing view of the events.
