Les Hussards

Hussards, Les. Name given to a group of young right-wing French writers of the 1940s and 1950s, particularly Roger Nimier, from whose novel Le Hussard bleu (1950) the group's name is derived, Antoine Blondin, and Jacques Laurent. The group, which also included Michel Déon, Kléber Haedens, and Stephen Hecquet, was characterized by its rejection of the spirit of the Resistance and of the Fourth Republic and its antagonism to Existentialism.
