1. Ballet in one act with choreography by Perrot, music by Bajetti, and design by C. Marshall. Premiered 26 June 1847 at Her Majesty's Theatre, London. It was conceived as a showcase for the talents of Grisi (Fire), Rosati (Water), and Cerrito (Air) in an attempt to repeat the huge success of Pas de quatre (1845). After an opening ensemble dance representing the earth the three ballerinas competed to assert the dominance of their particular element.

2. A one-act ballet by Fokine, with music by Bach and design by Bouchene, which was probably premiered 1 Apr. 1937 by R. Blum's Ballets de Monte Carlo at Alhambra Theatre, London, with Theilade and Eglevsky. This setting of Bach's Overture in B minor featured ensemble numbers for Water, Flowers, Air, and Flames, and solos for Flora, Zephyr, Vulcan, and the Tritons.
