Les Poissons (meaning "The Fishes" in French) is a song from the 1989 film The Little Mermaid, which is sung in the film and in the The Little Mermaid Broadway show by the character Chef Louis, voiced by René Auberjonois in the movie and played by John Treacy Egan in the play. Sebastian the crab (voiced by Samuel E. Wright) is trapped in a kitchen with Chef Louis who sings this song while he tries to kill Sebastian. The song was composed by Alan Menken and with lyrics by Howard Ashman. The song is on the Classic Disney Vol.3: 60 Years of Musical Magic CD.
It is a tribute to Maurice Chevalier's "Little Girl's", sung in the style of the famous French actor, with the trademark "hoh, hoh hoh".
In the 2007 musical adaption, one of the last lines appears as "it's gonna be hot/in my big copper pot," when in the original lyrics, it is "my big silver pot." A hypothesized reason for the changing is that the prop used in the musical is a copper pot, and so the line may have been changed so the music follows the scene.
