MCA Special Products' Let it Rock may not be a definitive retrospective of Chuck Berry's rich Chess recordings by any means, but that doesn't mean its unlistenable either. Far from it, as a matter of fact. None of the songs on the ten track budget line compilation are bad and many are flat out classics, such as "Let it Rock," "Back in the USA," "You Never Can Tell," "Memphis," "The Promised Land" and "Little Queenie." That alone makes this disc worthwhile for casual fans on a budget, even if it is missing such staples as "Johnny B. Goode," "No Particular Place to Go," "Roll Over Beethoven," "Rock & Roll Music," "Sweet Little Sixteen" and "Carol."
