Lily is the common English name for plants of the genus Lilium.
The term "lily", together with a modifier, is also applied to a large number of other plants, which have flowers that may resemble true lilies to a greater or lesser extent. Most of them are quite unrelated to the true lilies, and they include;
- African lily - Agapanthus africanus.
- Arum lily - Plants of the family Araceae, sometimes only plants of the genus Arum.
- Belladonna lily - Amaryllis.
- Blackberry lily - Belamcanda
- Daylily, or Day lily - Hemerocallis.
- Ginger lily - various plants in the family Zingiberaceae.
- Easter lily - either Zantedeschia aethiopica, or Lilium longiflorum
- Peruvian lily - Alstroemeria.
- Water lily - various aquatic plants.
