Linda Hodes

Hodes, Linda (née L. Margolies;b New York, 3 June 1933). US dancer, teacher, and choreographer. She began studying at Graham's school aged 9 and joined her company in 1953. Here she created roles in Seraphic Dialogue (1955), Clytemnestra (1958), Acrobats of God (1960), and Phaedra (1962) as well as dancing with P. Taylor and Tetley and on Broadway. In 1964 she taught Graham technique at Batsheva Dance Company, for which she choreographed The Act (mus. B. Page and B. Johnson, 1967) and of which she was co-artistic director (1972-5). She was then co-artistic director of the Martha Graham company (1979-91), director of the Paul Taylor School and of Taylor 2 (1992-8) and from 1998 began work editing the Taylor Foundation's Repertory Preservation Project. She was married to American dancer Stuart Hodes (b 1924) who performed with Graham (1947-58) and also danced on Broadway.
