Banking Dictionary: Linked Savings Account

Savings Account that has an account number related to a transaction account, usually a checking account or NOW account. Sometimes called a package account. The depositor can keep the bulk of funds in the savings account and transfer money between accounts, and may qualify for lower checking account service charges or free checking. Balances on both accounts and interest earned are reported monthly in a Combined Statement. See also Automatic Transfer of Savings; Sweep Account.
