Biography

Originating in the small town of Puna, HI, liquid is a rap-inflected alternative metal band influenced by the likes of Alice in Chains, Tool, Rage Against the Machine, and the Deftones. The group formed in 1997 with a lineup of vocalist Glynn Motoishi, guitarists Chris Albers and Isaiah McDonald, bassist Jason Paulsen, and drummer Frank Bianchini. The group self-released their eponymous first album in spring 2000, and were subsequently chosen to participate in the first Coke-sponsored New Music Awards contest for unsigned bands the following year. Guitarist McDonald departed the group shortly thereafter. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

Liquid are a British dance act, formed by Eamon Downes and Shane Heneghan.

Liquid emerged in 1991 with "Sweet Harmony" layering the house music of CeCe Rogers' "Someday"[1] over rolling, breakneck beats. This was followed by the The Future Music E.P. which included "Liquid is Liquid". Following Heneghan's (DJ Model) departure from the band after the first two releases, Liquid's reputation for recording alternative dancefloor fillers was cemented with Eamon Downes' "Time To Get Up" and the flamenco guitars of "One Love Family" - both of which were Mixmag 'singles of the week'.

The first three EP's were recorded with producer Jezz Wright[2] at Blockhouse.

Liquid have, with Top 40 singles in the UK, and several European hits, achieved commercial success whilst maintaining critical acclaim. The NME describe the XL recordings album Liquid Culture as "sophisticated, soulful techno".[citation needed] Liquid has performed live in many countries over many years. December 2007 saw the re-release of "Sweet Harmony" on XL recordings[3] with remixes by James Talk, Dave Spoon and Streetlife DJs.
