Biography

Singer/songwriter Lisa Johnson was born in Pennsylvania. When she was six years old, she took her first steps toward a lifestyle that would find her always near music -- she began by taking piano lessons. A few years later it was guitar lessons, and then voice. In both high school and college she studied music theory. While still in college at the University of Delaware, she landed gigs at bars and coffeehouses. Each trip up on stage increased her growing number of fans. She also joined forces with Kim Parent around this time, to form a little duo called the Parent Johnson Band. While perfecting her craft, Johnson has performed, recorded with, or opened for numerous artists, including Mark Humphreys, Michael Franks, the Hooters, Mary Coppin, Level 42, Judy Krueger, Che Zuro, Robin Pearl, and many others. She also moved to sunny Los Angeles with hopes of making better connections. In 1998, Johnson saw the release of her debut album. Whenever the Moon Is Full hit the market under the Trough Records label. "The Glory and the Dream," "The Strong One," "Trust," "Caroline," and "Enemy" are some of the pop/rock numbers from the release. Though Johnson provides vocals, guitar, keyboards, piano, and even mandolin and percussion on the recording, she enlisted help from other musicians like Tommy Edwards and Albe Bonacci for drums, percussion, and more.
