The following table includes cities of more than 7,500 inhabitants, their names in English transliteration and Mongolian, the results of the census of January 5. 2000 as well as a population estimation for the end of 2006. If 2006 year data were not accessible, were used estimations for the closest data.
The higher level administrative unit is the aimag, except for Ulan Bator which administrates its own federal district (Nalaikh and Baganuur are administrated by Ulan Bator). The numbers of inhabitants relate to the cities proper without surrounding districts.
