This is an episode list for the CBS television series Cold Case.

Seasons 1 through 3 comprised 23 hour-long episodes each, while Season 4 included an additional episode for a total of 24. Season 5, which finished its run in May 2008, began airing on September 23, 2007 and consisted of 18 episodes. The lower number was due to the extended WGA strike (2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike).

As of the current date, 142 episodes of Cold Case have aired.

When new evidence is uncovered that relates to a shooting death near Atlantic City in 1997, the team reopens the murder of a hitchhiker on his way back to Philadelphia.

When an old truck containing human bones is pulled from the Delaware River, the team re-opens the case, linking the truck to a Prohibition era bootlegger and believe the remains may be those of a woman who went missing in 1932.

  • No arrest in this episode.
  • Song featured in the finale: An original composition by Michael Levine, which can be found on the Cold Case Original Soundtrack under the title "Best Friends". An original poem is heard over the music.

The detectives reinvestigate the 2007 murder of an auto mechanic whose lottery winnings earned him a number of fair-weather friends when it is found that his bank account had recently been accessed. Ultimatly its revealed that he lost most of his money through reckless spending and giving it away as well as being scammed by his finacial advisor who the squad calls the IRS and SEC on. He had $100,000 left and took it out of the bank before moving back to his old job and appartment. He was murdered by his brother-in law as he and the victim's sister desperatly needed the money and he refused to give it to them and they would get it if he died as his sister was next of kin. The victim died with his last words being that he left the money to the one person who never asked him for any and thus deserved it. His sister accesed his bank account two years later to see if the money was there and it wasn't, knowing his pin number as it was the name of his beloved childhood dog Ripley. The police search the sister and brother-in laws apartment and hardware store and find the murder weapon and bank card and the two confess. Its ultimatly revealed that the victim, Ed, placed the money in the trunk of the car of a waitress friend of his named Shelly who was always needing her car fixed and was one of his only true friends. She hadn't been able to afford the car getting fixed and thus it was sitting at the shop the whole time with the money in the trunk. Shelly gets the money as Ed left it to her before his murder and he appears to her and smiles before disappearing.
