List of Futurama episodes

Wikipedia: List of Futurama episodes
The complete Futurama DVD collection before its 2008 renewal.

The following is an episode list for the FOX animated television series Futurama. The series began on March 28, 1999 and ended on August 10, 2003. However, four direct-to-DVD movies have been released and being aired as 16 individual episodes on Comedy Central, the first having aired on March 23, 2008. All four original production seasons are available on DVD. The DVD sets were entitled "Season #" in the Region 2 and Region 4 releases; however they were renamed to "Volume #" for Region 1. The Complete Collection DVD set was released on October 25, 2004 in Region 2, and on March 22, 2005 in Region 1.

Futurama was originally created as four seasons; however, FOX originally broadcast it out of the intended order as five seasons. This list is in production order, primarily because this is the order used on the DVDs, as intended by the artists, and it helps avoid plot inconsistencies. A list in broadcast order can be viewed at the Infosphere. The production code is the code used by FOX to indicate the production order of the episodes, and is in the format #ACV##. The first number represents the production season. ACV is FOX's series code for Futurama. The second number is the episode's number. The TV broadcast code indicates the broadcast order. It is in the format S0#E##, where S0# indicates the broadcasting season of which there were 5, and E## indicates the episode's number.

Futurama's episode ratings in the United States are TV-PG for suggestive dialogue (D), offensive language (L), sexual content (S), and/or graphic violence (V) in its earlier episodes on FOX and on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim airings. The later episodes on FOX are rated TV-14 for suggestive dialogue (D), offensive language (L), sexual content (S), and/or graphic violence (V). The Comedy Central reruns are also rated TV-14, but don't include any of the sub-ratings. In the UK, Futurama episodes have been rated PG (parental guidance suggested when viewing) or 12 (not recommended viewing for anyone under 12 years of age), depending on the episode's content. The only episode not rated PG or 12 is "Leela's Homeworld," which is rated U (recommended for all ages).

Season five aired on Comedy Central from March 23, 2008 to August 30, 2009. It consisted of the four straight-to-DVD films divided into sixteen individual episodes. Each four-episode set aired after the release of the accompanying film. In addition to airing the new season, Comedy Central has taken over syndication of the previous episodes.[1] A sixth season, consisting of 26 episodes, will be aired on Comedy Central beginning Summer 2010.

The Planet Express crew visits Amy's parents, Leo and Inez, who are destroying the "old" Mars Vegas and constructing a more extravagant one. A group of eco-feminists, led by Frida Waterfall, protesting the destruction of the environment, leads to an accident wherein a piece of Frida's jewelry lodges inside Fry's brain granting him telepathy. The destruction upsets Leela, but Leo asserts that he has received environmental clearance — from a bribed Professor Farnsworth. Unconvinced, Leela saves a Martian muck leech, the last of its species, from the site.

Farnsworth, Zoidberg and Hermes are captured by the eco-feminists (now joined by Amy, LaBarbara Conrad and others), who commandeer the Planet Express ship. Fry and Leela arrange a rendezvous which is ambushed by the eavesdropping Zapp in the Nimbus. The eco-feminists are captured and sent to prison.

The Futurama video game was released the same month as the airing of the 72nd episode in August 2003. It contains a half hour of cut scenes that were meant to serve as "the 73rd episode of the original series," according to David X. Cohen. The scenes tell of how the Planet Express crew prevent Mom from using Earth to take over the universe.[3] Renamed Futurama: The Lost Adventure, the episode appeared as a bonus on The Beast with a Billion Backs.
