List of Kings of Yemen
The King of the Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen was the head of government of that country in what is now northern Yemen. The monarchy was deposed in the North Yemen Civil War. As well as having the temporal title of King these were also Imams of the Zaydi branch of Shia'ism. Yemen has been ruled, in one form or another, by such imams since Imam Yahya al-Hadi ila'l Haqq in 897.
