The Shanghai Metro is a rapid transit serving Shanghai, China, and it is one of the fastest-growing metro systems in the world. The first section opened in 1995, and as of 2010 has 282 stations[1] with 420 kilometres (260 mi) of track in operation,[2] making it the longest metro system in the world.[3]
