Little Stars Hung Upside Down seems to fall somewhere between the influences of Guided by Voices and dreampop, and (despite rather slick production) it's not particularly bad about this -- tracks like "The Squishy and the Squeaky" have the washed-out, ringing guitars of, say, the Ocean Blue, but even moves like these are used to further the buzzy American rock aesthetic than underlies the record. Which makes for an album that's not so terrible -- not especially good, mind you, but certainly not terrible. ~ Nitsuh Abebe, Rovi
