Village on the A257, 4 m. E of Canterbury. Lee Priory, on the E of the village over the bridge, was rebuilt in the Gothick style for Thomas Barrett, a friend of Horace Walpole, who after a visit in the summer of 1790 wrote to Mary Berry, ‘I think that if Strawberry were not its parent, it would be jealous.’ On Barrett's death in 1803 the ownership of the Priory passed through Samuel Egerton Brydges's wife to his eldest son. After his wife's death Brydges lived at the Priory from 1810to1818, when he went abroad. The printers Johnson and Warwick set up a press here to print poems of Breton, Browne, Ralegh, and other Elizabethans, which had been collected by Brydges from many sources. Jane Austen was one of those unimpressed by his novels, but his many bibliographical works have been highly regarded, including The British Bibliographer (1810–14), and Restituta (1814–16). He became an MP in 1812 and was made a baronet in 1814. After alterations to the house, one of the rooms was re-erected at the Victoria and Albert Museum as an example of neo-Gothic architecture.

Littlebourne is a village and civil parish 3 miles outside of Canterbury in Kent, South East England.

The 13th-century church, St Vincent of Saragossa, is thought to have been founded by the monks of St Augustine's Abbey and contains an ancient wall painting depicting Saint Christopher, patron saint of travellers. It is also thought that the convent of St Augustine used Littlebourne for the plantation of vines.[2] It is three miles outside of the city of Canterbury.
