Rights relating to the ownership of property that abuts an ocean, sea, or lake.

Littoral proprietors are occupants of land that borders the above-named bodies of water, whereas riparian proprietors are those who occupy land bordering streams orrivers. Littoral rights are generally concerned with the use and enjoyment of the shore.
