Review

A rough recording of a time not forgotten, this recording goes back to the Alarma! tour, featuring songs from the then soon-to-be-released album Doppelganger. The music is great -- as one might expect -- though not nearly as polished as the studio recordings. It is difficult to believe that this group used to be a country & western outfit. The liner notes indicate that the bandmembers were tired and cranky after having had their equipment recently stolen and having to use borrowed instruments. Even though it is a high-energy performance, you can tell that they do sound tired. Unreleased tracks "Everyone's Fallen Down" and "Love Has Open Arms" -- leftovers from the extended Horrendous Disc sessions -- now seem rather out of character for the band, but are a welcome addition and great to hear on record. It is also great to hear live versions of "I Love You No. 19" and "Tidal Wave" -- songs heretofore unheard on CD. A great piece for die-hard DA fans. ~ Mark W.B. Allender, All Music Guide
