Biography

A supergroup whose members have played with everyone from INXS to Deep Purple, Living Loud came together in 2003 when bassist Bob Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake decided to relive some hard rock memories. The two wanted to re-create the music they had helped write and play on the million-selling Ozzy Osbourne albums Blizzard of Oz and Diary of a Madman. Guitarist Steve Morse (who had worked with Kansas, the Dixie Dregs, and Deep Purple) and vocalist Jimmy Barnes (who had worked with INXS and Cold Chisel along with having a very successful solo career in Australia) soon joined the project. New versions of classic Osbourne tracks like "Mr. Crowley" and "Crazy Train" were first worked out, and then new material in the same vein was added. Working with producer Darren Schneider (Deep Purple, Matchbox Twenty, Creed), the superstar lineup recorded their self-titled debut, which was released by Liberation Music in 2004. Keyboardist Don Airey (Whitesnake, Deep Purple) was added to the band just in time for their debut concert in Sydney's Fox Studios in 2004. The concert was captured on the 2005 CD Live in Sydney 2004 and the DVD Debut Live Concert: Sydney Fox Studios, 2004, the latter of which was released in early 2006. The band began a worldwide tour in 2005 with new romantic legend Steve Strange as their tour manager. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi

Living Loud was a recording project featuring bass player and songwriter Bob Daisley, Uriah Heep drummer Lee Kerslake, guitarist Steve Morse of Deep Purple and Cold Chisel singer Jimmy Barnes. Deep Purple keyboards player Don Airey made a guest appearance.

According to the liner notes of the self-titled album, the project was instigated by Daisley who had discussed with Kerslake the possibility of "re-doing some of the songs from the classic rock albums that they had co-written". Six of those songs, "I Don't Know", "Crazy Train", "Flying High Again", "Mr. Crowley", "Tonight" and "Over the Mountain" originally appeared on the Ozzy Osbourne albums Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman. In 2002, Osbourne had re-issued both albums with Daisley and Kerslake's original performances replaced by new bass and drum tracks after both men had sued the singer for non-payment of royalties and related issues (despite playing on Diary of a Madman, Daisley and Kerslake's performances were credited to Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge for many years).

In August, 2003, Daisley, Kerslake, Barnes and Morse recorded the album in Florida. Along with the Osbourne songs, the group also wrote five new tracks. Airey (who had also worked on the first two Osbourne albums and whose contributions were also uncredited) recorded his parts in London. Living Loud was released in 2004. While Morse and Airey were touring Australia with Deep Purple that year, Living Loud played two live shows, one at the Metro in Melbourne, and one at Fox Studios in Sydney. The latter event was recorded and released on DVD in 2005.
