Biography

A prolific television producer who developed successful television series for both ABC and BBC, Lloyd Shirley is credited as the man behind such popular shows as Public Eye and Callan. Born in London, Ontario, Canada, in 1930, early efforts from Shirley included the oversight on The Eamonn Andrews Show and an art-related program entitled Tempo. After working on both sides of the Atlantic, Shirley founded Euston Films, a British production company specializing in made-for-television films. Married to Virginia Snyders in 1953, the couple remained together until Shirley's death from cancer in March of 2003. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
