(electricity) Internal losses of a battery caused by chemical reactions producing local currents between different parts of a plate. Quantitatively, the percentage loss per month in the capacity of a battery on open circuit, or the amount of current needed to keep the battery fully charged.
(metallurgy) Electrochemical corrosion resulting from the action of local cells.
