The five boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens,
the Bronx, and Staten Island) are situated on three islands:
Manhattan Island, Staten Island, and Long Island. The boroughs of
Brooklyn and Queens are on Long Island. The rest of Long Island is
a part of New York State, but not a part of New York City. The
Bronx is the only New York City borough that is not on an
island.
