Lorraine Chase (born 16 July 1951) is an English actress and model.

Chase worked as a model in the 1970s. She became well known for her strong cockney accent and frequent use of cockney slang, and found fame through a series of television commercials for Campari in the mid 1970s, one of which spawned her catchphrase "Nah, Luton Airport!" as a reply to a question "Were you truly wafted here from paradise?"[1] The ad inspired the 1979 hit record "Luton Airport" by Cats U.K..[2]

Chase also made a novelty record of her own in 1979, entitled "It's Nice 'Ere, Init" (also based on a line from another one of her Campari ads), though this was unsuccessful.

As well as her various television credits, Chase has also appeared in pantomime stage productions.

Chase is an Honorary Patron of The Music Hall Guild of Great Britain and America.

Television

From 1979, Chase was a recurring guest on the BBC quiz show Blankety Blank, hosted by Terry Wogan and later Les Dawson.

She appeared in the children's television programme Worzel Gummidge, in 1980, as the character Dolly Clothes-Peg. Dolly tried to woo the hapless scarecrow Worzel, played by Jon Pertwee, but he spurned her in favour of his unrequited love affair with Aunt Sally, played by Una Stubbs.

However, her most prominent role came in the 1980 sitcom The Other 'Arf, in which she co-starred with John Standing. The Other 'Arf ran for four series until 1984, after which Chase appeared in the less successful 1984 TV sitcom Lame Ducks.

In 2002, Chase joined the cast of the long-running soap Emmerdale. Executive producer Steve Frost chose her to play the mother of Sheree Murphy's character Tricia Stokes due their physical resemblance. She appeared in the programme until 2006.

Pantomime

Chase is appearing in pantomime this year at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon as Carabosse the wicked fairy in Sleeping Beauty.

Accident

In 2000, Chase was almost killed in a car crash when the car she was driving plummeted 30 feet off a bridge and she had to be cut from the wreckage. She spent four days in hospital with facial injuries and had to have part of her ear sewn back on [3].
