Los Angeles City College (LACC) is a community college that offers certificate and associate's degree programs. The school concentrates its curriculum on arts and sciences and vocational coursework. Many of its students transfer to UC or USC after completing LACC's curriculum, designed in preparation for transfer to a four-year university. Enrollment is at about 17,000 students, more than 50% of which are over the age of 55. The primary language for nearly half of LACC's students is something other than English. LACC was founded as Los Angeles Junior College in 1929 by the Los Angeles Board of Education.
