Biography

The 12-member traditional Mexican group Los Angeles de Charly emerged in 1999 after Charly Becies left his previous act, Los Angeles Azules, to assemble his own outfit. Memo Palafox and Jonathan Martínez joined him to make their debut album, entitled La Magia del Amor. Playing a mix of Colombian Cumbia and Mexican norteño styles based on romantic lyrics, Los Angeles de Charly returned in November 2000 with a ten-track record, called Un Sueño, featuring the hit single "Toda." Billboard's Top Latin album Te Voy A Enamorar followed in 2001. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
