Biography

Latin rock band from Panama los Rabanes was formed in 1992 after Rum and Coke and El Décimo Piso disbanded. In 1994, the threesome was playing throughout the country, getting recognition as one of the major local rock numbers. That same year, los Rabanes recorded ¿Por Qué Te Fuiste Benito?, released by Kiwi Records, and the video for its main title was rotated by MTV Latino. In 1995, the band started touring Latin America, playing along with prominent rock en Español groups such as Todos Tus Muertos and Aterciopelados. Two years later, los Rabanes recorded All Star Volumen 2, produced by los Fabulosos Cadillacs' Flavio Cianciarulo. In 1999, the act moved to Spain, having the opportunity to participate in a festival called FestiMad, headlined by Metallica. That same year, the band performed in New York along with Control Machete. In the year 2000, los Rabanes recorded a self-titled album which was produced in Miami by Roberto Blades and Emilio Estefan Jr.. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide

Style

The lyrical style of Los Rabanes is a mix between Panama Spanish and English. Even if some chorus are fully or partly in English the main lytics of the songs use to in Spanish use English only for expressing sarcasm, satire or parody, as United States had traditionally had strong influence over Panama with military interventions with the last United States invasion of Panama occurring in 1989-1990.

History

At the beginning of the 1990s, Emilio Regueira, Christian Torres and Javier Saavedra began playing in small pubs and bars during the weekends in Chitre, Herrera.

In 1993, Alvaro Acevedo, former drummer and current manager of Los Rabanes joined the team. This brought a reorganization that included demos and presentations in Panama City, which produced even a stronger impact than in the Central Provinces.

By the year 1994, with only one demo and one theme on the radio. Later that year, they joined the first ever made "Rock Nacional" tour, which included all the rock bands from Panama.

Los Rabanes have worked with Reggaeton artists like Don Omar and Ñejo Y Dalmata

They also worked with Reggaeton Producer El Chombo in a song that was featured in the album Los Cuentos De La Cripta.
