Leningrad Cowboys Go to America meets Spinal Tap in this wacky faux-documentary about three would-be Japanese rock stars with dreams about striking it big in L.A. Kenta, Koike, and Maro -- who make up the real-life band Sunny Cruiser -- fly into the City of Angels and make a bee-line to a big-name record producer's mansion. Though the producer has a Japanese-speaking assistant, which is fortunate because the trio can barely utter a complete English sentence between them, he throws the group out of his house, and their disc in the trash. Undaunted, they drive to Vegas where they win -- and then subsequently lose -- a pile of cash at the roulette wheel. They sneak out of the hotel in the dead of night and head for Arizona, hoping to see some Native Americans. After they run out of gas and wander around in the desert for a spell, the trio accidentally eats some hallucinogenic mushrooms (dipped in soy sauce) given to them by a mute Native American woman, who leads them into a cave and seduces them. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide
