Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service is the statutory fire and rescue service covering a total area 2,500 square miles (6,500 km2) and serving a total population of 890,000.[1]
Stations
The service has a total of 36 operational fire stations, these are separated into 11 groups, each group covering a different area of Lothian and Borders. Currently there are:
- 23 retained fire stations
- 3 wholetime and retained stations
- 10 wholetime stations[2]
- 1 Wholetime & Day Shift Duty System (DSDS)
headquarters are located at Lauriston place Edinburgh which also services as the brigade museum
