Biography

Andriessen received his education at the Utrecht Conservatory, studying composition with his father, Hendrik, and at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague. He utilizes avant garde techniques, such as collage, as well as traditional methods in his composition. He collaborated with four other composers in creating the opera Reconstruction, which made its debut at the Holland Festival in 1970. ~ Lynn Vought, All Music Guide
