Louis Falco

Falco, Louis (b New York, 2 Aug. 1942, d 26 Mar. 1993). US dancer, choreographer, and director. He studied at the American Ballet Theatre School, American Ballet Center, and with Limón, Weidman, and Graham, making his debut with the Limón Dance Company in 1960. In 1967 he formed his own group for which he choreographed many works, including Caviar (1970), Escargot (1978), and Kate's Rag (1980), the majority of which were set to music by Burt Alcantara. Many of his early dances tended towards lyrical abstraction but after 1971 he increasingly incorporated text and props. He also made works for Netherlands Dance Theatre (Eclipse, 1974), for Ballet Rambert (Tutti Frutti, 1973), and La Scala Ballet (The Eagle's Nest, 1980). In 1980 he choreographed the film Fame.
