Lamoricière, Christophe Léon Louis Juchault de (krēstôf' lāôN' lwē zhüshō' də lämôrēsyĕr'), 1806-65, French general. Important in the conquest of Algeria, he distinguished himself at the head of his celebrated Zouaves and received (1847) the submission of Abd al-Kader. He was active in French politics after the February Revolution of 1848, but his opposition to Napoleon III led to his banishment (1852).
