Loutrochori(on) (Greek: Λουτροχώρι(οv) meaning "bath town"; formerly Bania, Μπάνια meaning "baths"), is a village in the Pella Prefecture, of Macedonia in Greece. It is located at . According to the 2001 census, population was is 466 [1], area is 3.96 square kilometers, and population density is 118 per square kilometers.
This village, can be found on an elevation of about 60 - 90 meters, providing it with interesting landscapes on the surroundings. Loutrochori has a school, a small cultur center, a few supermarkets, a small health centre (2 times/week), churches, and a square plateia. Its nearest train stations with the OSE's SPAP line are 2,5 km east (Petrea), 5 km southeast (Episkopi) and 7 km northeast (Skydra).
History

The Loutrochori area has been a spa from the 4th century BC under the Macedonian Kingdom.

Loutrochori is part of the municipality of Skydra. It is 20 km southeast of the prefectural capital of Edessa in Central Macedonia, (Greece). Loutrochori is bounded with the prefecture of Imathia to the southwest and it is 25 km northwest of the capital Veria. It sits at an elevation of around 90 meters above mean sea level and the population is approximately from 500 (in winter) to 800 (in summer) inhabitants.
Loutrochori covers an area of some 3.96 km² (2 sq.mi.). Like some of its sister villages, municipalities and towns, Loutrochori is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in Europe.
Loutrochori has a Mediterranean climate with mild, rainy winters and hot, dry summers. The warmest month is August, with 18 °C to 32 °C (64 to 90 °F). Record high temperatures of up to 42 °C (108 °F). The coolest month is January, averaging 1 °C to 7 °C (34 to 44 °F).

Economy
Loutrochori produces cherries and peaches and it is listed as one of the best fruit producers in Greece. The village also produces apples and some strawberries.

After the Second World War and the Greek Civil War, the population steadily declined as residents moved to larger towns and cities and the richest countries in the world, the population boomed between 1923-1981 but declined between 1981-2001.
