Review

Apparently recorded during the same 1978 European tour that resulted in his Storyville album Live in Copenhagen, Nagel Heyer's Love for Sale: Live in Dublin 1978 documents the adventures of John Haley "Zoot" Sims during a visit to his own ancestral turf. Performing live at the Kilkenny Arts Festival, the imperturbable soprano and tenor saxophonist was backed by pianist Noel Kelehan, bassist Jimmy McKay, and drummer John Wadham. Zoot's discography is crammed with enjoyable and almost invariably excellent offerings born of inspired blowing sessions; this sanguine Irish jam date certainly rates with the best of his live albums. The 15-minute title track is particularly exciting. ~ arwulf arwulf, All Music Guide
