Artist: Lowlights
  • Formed: 2000
  • Genres: Rock

Biography

Treated primarily as a side project for singer/songwriter Dameon Lee, the Lowlights took shape in 2000 with jazz vocalist and occasional collaborator la Brisa Roche. With additional musicians who are borrowed from other California acts such as the Batars and Mosey, the Lowlights' thick, reverb-filled guitars and gentle, melodic vocals would eventually be captured on their self-released, self-titled debut EP in 2001. The group signed to Darla records and in 2000 appeared on the label's A Gift From a Graden to a Flower: A Tribute to Donovan covering his early hit "Catch the Wind". In early 2003 Lowlights released their psych-country rock influenced self-titled full length. Produced by former Rocketship leader Dustin Reske (who also contributed guitar, keyboard and vocal support), the record featured along with Lee on guitars, bass and keyboards of various types and Roche on vocals, Angela Brown on harmony vocals, Noah Wilson on drums, H.A. Nethery on guitar and Brooks Otis on pedal steeel.~ Mike DaRonco & Tim Sendra, All Music Guide
