Biography

Luís Airão, one of the most successful representatives of the commercial samba style known as sambão jóia in the '70s and '80s, wrote his first song at five and had the ballad "Nossa Canção" recorded in 1966 by Roberto Carlos. In that period, he had several songs recorded by Jovem Guarda artists. Some of his biggest hits were "Saudades da República," "Quero que Volte," "Porta Aberta," and "No Silêncio da Madrugada." ~ Alvaro Neder, All Music Guide
