Luggage Forward was created in 2004 and works in partnership with Federal Express, UPS, DHL and other smaller shippers in order to provide high quality shipping of luggage.[1] As major US airlines began introducing fees for checking bags, demand for Luggage Forward's service more than doubled.[2]
In 2011, Luggage Forward was named to the Inc 500|5000, an annual list of America's fastest growing privately held companies. Luggage Forward was named the #12 fastest growing travel company, with a three year growth rate of 172%.[3]
In 2012, Luggage Forward was recognized as the #21 on the Inner City 100, a list of the fastest growing inner city companies.[4] The Inner City 100 is compiled by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, a nonprofit research and strategy organization founded in 1994 by Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter.
Luggage is picked up at the doorstep of a house and taken straight to the hotel. Luggage Forward claims that their prices can be cheaper than airline baggage fees,[5] though the fees can reach several hundred dollars, depending on the speed of the service.[6]
