Lughaidh Ó Cléirigh
Lughaidh Ó Cléirigh (c.1580 – c.1640) was an Irish Gaelic poet and historian.
Born in County Donegal, Lughaidh was cousin of renowned Gaelic historian Mícheál Ó Cléirigh. Lughaidh was the chief of his sept and participated in the Contention of the bards, a literary controversy of early 17th century Ireland.[1] He was the author of Beatha Aodha Ruaidh UÍ Dhomhnaill (Life of Red Hugh O'Donnell), a biography of Red Hugh, a leader in the Nine Years War.
