Biography

Having started in local groups like the Biriba Boys, Luís Antônio won first prize for Best Singer in the I Encontro Nacional da Jovem Guarda (I Jovem Guarda contest, in São Paulo). He also won the Sabiá de Prata trophy twice for his participation in the Festival Internacional da Canção (International Song Festival). Antônio participated in the film Em Busca do Sucesso and in 1972, he performed in Spain with the Brasil Aquarius, recording with the group Brasil Aquarius y Luiz Antonio. His rendition of "Roseana" was included on the soundtrack to the film O Donzelo (by Roberto Farias). Antônio also performed at the Téâtre de l'Oprimée (France), in the show Dans L'ombre, Un Recital. In 1974, Rolando Faria and Antonio formed the duo Les Étoiles, settled in France and still active. ~ Alvaro Neder, All Music Guide
