The song failed to chart in the United Kingdom, and no music video was produced. The song uses jazz harmonic, which were very popular in the late 1940s.
Jackson performed the song on the Rock Witchu Tour.
In reviews of Discipline, Allmusic described "Luv" as "carrying a brisk, feel-good clap-and-bounce",[2] while Newsday said the song "grooves along like it could have come from Ciara's album, aside from a few trade Jackson harmonies."[3]
"Luv" peaked at number thirty-four on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in mid-March 2008, making it Jackson's forty-third U.S. R&B top forty hit. However, the song failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Since there was no music video released, the promotion for the song was poor.
