Lysekil is a locality and the seat of Lysekil Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden with 7,568 inhabitants in 2005.[1]

The picturesque coastal town of Lysekil is a major tourist destination during the Swedish summer period from June to the end of August.

Lysekil is known as originator of the Lysekil Caviar, often referred to as Creamed Smoked Roe in English and as Caviar de Lysekil in French. It is a different kind of caviar compared to regular caviar. Its main ingredients are tomato sauce, cod roe, onion, salt and often mixed with dill and chives. The Kalles caviar is the most well known brand.
