M-Audio, formerly known as Midiman, manufactures audio output devices for PCs, cables and accessories, MIDI controllers and interfaces, mixers, multimedia and music software, pre-amps, and studio monitors. The products help musicians use computers to create, perform, and record music with high-quality sound. Aside from the US, the company also has operations in Canada, France, Germany, Japan, and the UK. It was founded in 1988 and acquired by Avid Technology in 2004 for $174 million.
