m1 (Also called M Egy or MTV1) is a Hungarian television channel own and operated by Magyar Televízió. It is also transmitted in high definition.
It was 24 hours in 2001 along with m2. But cancelled that project in 2002.
It is the most watched channel in Hungary and its ratings is 97%.

Transmission Hours throughout the years
- 1983-1989: Opens at 8:00am and closes between 10:45pm and 12:30am. Start at 6:00pm every day with regular programmes until between 11:30pm and 1:00am. Start at 1:30pm on Christmas and New Year and close between 12:30am and 2:30am.
- 1989-1994: Opens at 6:05am when breakfast programmes launched and closes between 11:30pm and 2:00am. Also closes from 11:00am to 3:30pm. Start between 5:45am and 8:00am on Christmas and New Year and closes between 11:45pm on Christmas and 2:00am on New Year's Day.
- 1994-1997: Opens between 5:15am and 5:45am and closes between 11:50pm and 2:00am.
- 1997-2001: Opens at 4:35am and closes between 11:50pm and 1:00am.
- 2001-2002: Opens 24 Hours until 2002 but m2 continues to broadcast 24 Hours since 2001.
- 2002-2005: Opens at 4:55am and closes between 12:30am and 2:45am.
- 2005-2007: Opens at 5:10am and closes between 12:30am and 3:00am.
- 2007-2008: Opens at 5:20am and closes between 12:30am and 2:45am
- 2008-2009: Opens at 5:45am and closes between 1:00am and 2:30am.
- Since 2009: Opens at 5:20am and closes between 1:00am and 3:15am.
All opening times from m1 are sometimes not recently 100%.
All closing times from m1 are not 100%.
As of 23 December 2008, m1's HDTV channel, m1HD follows suit the transmission hours from m1 while m2's HDTV channel, m2HD follows suit with m2 by transmitting 24 hours.
One day in 1996, It closes at 23:56 and m2 closes at 00:04. The normal closetime is maybe 12:00am except New Year's Day which they played Himnusz at 12:00am and continue transmission until they start closedown transmission between 2:00am and 4:30am.
Noon program block
During 1995-1998 there was a noon program block from 12:00 to 15:30. It is first program with clock before the program. It is entertainment programmes without advertisements.
School programs
During 1979-1989 there were a school program in daytime. This makes startup comes at 8am instead of 6pm. During weekend and summer and winter they start at 6pm with m2.
In 1990, They ceased the school programming. Replaced with morning programs from 6-11am. It is closed during 11:00-15:30. Later, They put the information program at 11:00-12:00 and noon program at 12:00-15:30. So the programs will be at 5:45 to 23:45 or 2:00.
